Foundations For Our Future is proud to announce the endorsement of the following candidates in the upcoming April 7 City Council election. We have provided a brief summary of our reasons for support, based on initial questionnaires, personal interviews and a background check of each candidate. Our mission is to promote and encourage the most qualified candidates for municipal elections without a focus on issues.
Our endorsements are just that: ours. Your vote is always yours to cast and yours to research for yourself. We simply want to provide as much information and an impartial review to aid in your own decision making. Above all, vote!
Of course, all of our candidate choices support our First Responders. They all understand that Lee’s Summit is no longer the same community it was 30, 20 or even 10 years ago, and governance cannot be the same either. The following candidates have outstanding qualifications and experience that we, as a group, believe made them our best choice.
District 1 - Steve Lambert
As an entrepreneur, Steve has spent the last 26 years operating his own successful business and serving as a public speaker across the nation. He understands that economic development must be carefully planned, not generically, but specifically for the community it serves. With background as an investment broker, Steve can leverage his experience when looking at long term bonding capacities and implementation of financial strategic plans.
District 2 - Andrew Felker
Andrew has a wealth of experience serving on boards and commissions both in and around the KC area as well as in Lee’s Summit. He has served on the Chamber Board as well as the Lee’s Summit Medical Center Board of Trustees, ProDeo Youth Center, Lee’s Summit Cares and others. His experience in wealth management, trust administration and business law positions him to bring a much needed skill set to City Council.
District 3 - Dr. Rocco Florio
Rocco is one of the many people who moved to Lee’s Summit for family and professional reasons and found it to be something special. So special, he made the choice to run for office to do what he can to help keep it that way. He has served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Women’s Health department at St. Luke’s East Hospital, served on the Medical Executive Committee and owns and operates his own Women’s Health practice in Lee’s Summit.
District 4 - Donnie Funk
Donnie has served on the Lee’s Summit Planning Commission, currently as its Vice Chair. He has been a liaison to both the Economic Development Committee and the Historic Preservation Committee. As a business owner and employer, Donnie has worked in construction, demolition and environmental abatement. His understanding of incentives, city planning and the construction industry brings a unique and balanced perspective to future economic growth in Lee’s Summit.
